Tiger Shark Images - A Highly Skilled Hunter

Top Right Solid Corner

The tiger shark, Galeocerdo cuvier, feeds on a wide range of items including fish, seals, dugongs, crabs, clams, sea birds, small sharks, squid, turtles, and dolphins. It hunts at night, and specimens have been found with human-originated ocean garbage in their stomachs, such as tires, plastic bottles, and toys.

The tiger shark is a skilled  hunter, helped by excellent eyesight, a sense of smell that can detect minute traces of blood in the water, and the ability to sense pressure waves caused by prey animals swimming or injured. They will circle the prey, and then attack, eating all of the prey.
