The white-beaked dolphin, Lagenorhynchus albirostris, is one of the largest dolphins, noted for its short, thick, white beak, and stocky body. Their coloration is usually light grey to whitish, and they may have a light grey stripe, or grey patch or a white strip in front of the dorsal fin near the blow hole. They have a distinctive large curved dorsal fin, large flippers, and a tapered tail stock.

White-beaked dolphins are endemic to the North Atlantic ocean, where it feeds on fish, especially clupeids, gadids, and hake as well as squid, octopus and benthic crustaceans. They are social and typically are found in groups of around 35, although much larger schools of several hundred have been seen. White-beaked dolphins are acrobatic and will bow ride and make high leaps from the ocean. White-beaked dolphins reach sexual maturity at a length of about six feet, and the females give birth to calves usually during June to September.
